  2. I’m wondering … without the photo, could a title give the reader some reference to the object of the poem? This is an ekphrastic poem, too, if the visual is presented with it. Can the poem stand alone but with a title anchoring it? Makes me think of the title A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN for that great American novel.

  3. Yes, I thought the same thing. I could “free” it from the photo by prefacing with

    “Green feathered stems
    facing morning’s light, …”

    I find charm in the dependency inherent it its present state, but it would definitely fall flat if read over the radio! Something to be said for both…
